1949 and Viene 1968) and Andorra, Angola, Brasil, UAE, Morroco, Mozambique, São Tomé e Príncipe and Switzerland.
- Valid Credit Card in the main driver's name with enough funds to cover the "Damage Responsability" value.
There is no advance payment required to make a reservation and you can cancel free of charge at any time. Please cancel your reservation if you do not wish to use it as soon as possible, so that we can release the vehicle to another customer.
The prioces displayed on the website include (unless otherwise stated): VAT, unlimited mileage, third part insurance, damage coverage with a "Damage Responsability" value, Roadside Assistance and all mandatory taxes and fees. All mandatory extras according to the reservation conditions are presented during the reservation process.
The Damage Liability is the value the client is responsible in the event of damage to the vehicle during the rental, which is not attributed to third parties (know as "deductible" or "excess"). This is the maximum amount that the customer will have to bear for damage caused to the vehicle (without a this party being responsible) when all contractual clauses are met. The value of Damage Liability varies depending on the type of vehicle and can be canceled by contracting the Damage Coverage Service (SuperCDW) - tires, windows and locks excluded.
After you get your luggage, exit the airport through the "Arrivals" door. You'll find our staff and our shuttle bus that will take you to our office to pick-up your car (5 minutes). In case you get lost or need any help, please contact +351 961 761 966. Providing the arrival flight number when booking your car will help us monitor any possible flight delays.
In case your vehicle breaks down, the rental includes a 24-hour Roadside Assistance Service. You must contact the rental company to activate Roadside Assistance (during normal opening hours) or directly to Roadside Assistance (contact on the insurance card in the vehicle's glove compartment). The vehicle will be towed to our facilities and a Taxi will be activated to travel to our facilities to receive another vehicle or to your accommodation (depending on the schedule). The Roadside Assistance Service is provided by a third party, so we are not responsible for delays in assistance.
Vehicles can only be used in Portugal Mainland. Vehicles are only allowed to cross-border to Spain if authorized by Auto Rent and if the Cross-border fee has been paid.
You must return the rented vehicle to the same place where you picked it up, at the OPORENT facilities. You can check the address and location on our website www.oporent.com. The return date and time are agreed upon at the start of the rental. Failure to meet the return date, time and location violates the rental Terms and Conditions and implies responsibility for paying all associated costs (rental time and transportation of the vehicle, if applicable).
Although our procedures are quick, we suggest that you return the vehicle with enough time for damage inspection and end-of-rental processing to avoid being late for your return flight.
Avoid fines and notifications and subscribe ETOLL Service from the beginning! According to the Portuguese law all rental vehicles are equipped with a transponder (ViaVerde) for toll processing. The customer is responsible for paying the toll amount to the rental company. For managing, processing and collection of toll values, the rental company charges a fee called ETOLL Service.
Values relating to Motorway tolls associated with the rental agreement are processed at the end of the rental and up to 120 days after it (due to delays in the motorway concessionaires' system). The amount determined at the end of the rental is charged in person and all amounts that may arise after the end of the rental will be charged to the credit card associated with the rental on record. If it is impossible to charge the card, the driver's data will be shared with the concessionaires so that they can notify the driver to charge the appropriate tolls.
OPORENT practices a fair fuel policy. The customer must return the vehicle with the same fuel level as received. Fuel differences will be charged: 1/8 difference -> 15 € (Group A,C1,E,F,J1,J2) and 30 € (Group H1, L1). Returning a vehicle with more fuel does not entitle you to a refund of its value.
A verification of damages is done at beginning of the rental and in the end. You're welcome to take pictures of the vehicle condition. The new damages registered in the final verification are responsibility of the customer according to Terms & Conditions and Damage Coverage subscribed. You can check the Damages Price Tabe here: https://reservas.oporent.com/en/tabela-de-precos-de-danos
The insurance subscribed with a third party is a refund insurance, therefore the customer is responsible for paying the damages occurred during the rental and then present a claim to the insurance company to get reimbursed. We provide the invoice and damage report for that.
In case of accident, the customer must contact the car rental company and the police authorities in order to take care of the event. Customer must collect all data from the third parties involved (Insurance company and policy nº; name, address, contact and driver license nº from driver; brand, model and registration nº of the other vehicle) as well as from the witnesses. You should never assume as guilty and must complete the Accident Declaration form, providing a copy to the car rental company. In case of injured people, contact the Emergency Number 112.
Most likely, the charge in question is related to the payment of tolls. Unfortunately, the toll system in Portugal is not online, so toll information for your rental is not available in our system in real time. Thus, at the end of the rental, toll values that are available in the system will be charged and a few days later (up to 60 days) toll values, related to your rental, that were not available in the system on the return date, will be charged. These amounts are charged to the credit card of the customer. Charges related to the driver identification service may also arise in the event of fines.
We accept credit cards (VISA and MasterCard) and cash as payment for the rental. For deposit purposes, a credit authorization in the amount of "Damage Liability" is required on a valid credit card (VISA or MasterCard) in the name of the main driver. We do not accept payments or deposits in American Express.
In the beginning of the rental an Authorization of Credit is created on your credit card for deposit. In the end of the rental, after all payments settled, that authorization is cancelled. Usually banks have 48h to 72h to release those funds. In case that doesn't happen, please insist with your bank and, if possible, provide him the Authorization of Credit cancellation receipt.
At the beginning of the rental, we will associate your credit card with our computer system in a completely secure and encrypted way. This allows for the collection of amounts that may arise after the end of the rental (such as tolls), in an easier and safer way for the customer.
